Two Arrested After Burglary of Westbury Apartment

Police said that one of the suspects was an acquaintance of the victims.

Two men were arrested on Monday after they burglarized an apartment in Westbury, police said.

According to police, a man and a woman returned to their apartment on Merillon Avenue to discover their acquaintance, Kristopher Kaufman, 33, of Westbury, and Andrew Sciascia, 24, of Hicksville inside of their apartment.

Both suspects fled on foot without any proceeds. The victims called Kaufman and asked him to come back to the house. When he returned, he was placed under arrest, police said.

Sciascia was located a short time later at his residence where he was placed under arrest without incident, authorities said.

Both defendants were charged with second-degree burglary.
