A graduate known for blogging his support of al Qaeda and terrorism was killed on Sept. 30 in a drone strike in Yemen that also took the life of the radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and two other men, according to the New York Times.

According to police, two males entered Walmart and demanded cash.

A Pennsylvania news outlet reported that an East Meadow man was arrested after going on a drunken rampage in Sugarloaf Township, PA.

According to the Standard Speaker, state police at Hazleton said that James Henry Morrow, 20, was arguing with someone when they arrived at Barron's Sunoco on State Route 93. The victim told police that Morrow was drunk and assaulted him. For the full story, click the link above.

An East Meadow resident and former private school teacher was sentenced recently to probation after pleading guilty on child porn charges.

John Spring, 59, of East Meadow, was sentenced May 11 to three years of probation including 180 days of electronic monitoring for sex offenders, according to Chris Munzing, a spokesperson for Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice. For the full story, click the link above.

An East Meadow man was arrested after an off-duty New York City Police officer from Massapequa was killed in a three-vehicle crash on the Southern State Parkway.

Jonathan Lopez, 20, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter in the second degree, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding and two counts of assault in the third degree, police said. For the full story, click the link above.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced that a Nassau County Police officer has been arrested after he allegedly used his authority to coerce a woman into touching him inappropriately during a traffic stop in East Meadow.

Rice said that on Feb. 27, Garrett Mannerz, a police officer from the Third Precinct, stopped a vehicle that was travelling in the vicinity of Hempstead Turnpike and Newbridge Road. Inside the car were three women in their early 20s. For the full story, click the link above.

No. 1 —

An East Meadow woman was arrested for stalking and harassment after her son failed to make an East Meadow Little League travel team, according to third precinct officials.

According to police, on May 21, Janet Chiauzzi, 44, allegedy sent letters "of a threatening nature" to an East Meadow Little League official and his son. Police said the letter also made threats against the victim's wife and daughter.
