Salisbury Man Fatally Shot

Crime Stoppers is seeking the community's help in identifying Anthony Richard's killer.

A Salisbury man was shot to death Sunday while he was sitting in his car with a friend in Baldwin, police said.

According to the Nassau County Homicide Squad, the victim, Anthony Richard, 22, and a 20-year-old male were parked in a 2010 Mercedes Benz on Adams Street at approximately 10:40 p.m. when an unknown male approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots.

Richard drove a short distance before crashing into a tree. Richard's friend exited the vehicle and went to a nearby residence for help. He was discovered on the lawn of a home on Lincoln Street, and he was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries. Richard was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who has any information about this crime to call the toll free hotline at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477) or any member of Homicide Squad at 516-573-7788. All callers will remain anonymous. Police are also offering up to $5,000 as a reward for information on the case.

This is a developing news story, and Patch will provide more information as it's made available.

Can you tell us where in Salisbury this individual lived? A 22 year old driving a 2012 Mercedes? I'm guessing that is an important part of the story here. I would really like to know where in Salisbury he was living? Was he renting part of a house somewhere?

He lived on Davie Street.

Why does everyone say be must have rented or that it is hard to believe a 22 year old is driving a 2012 Mercedes? Could it be he leases it? If he loves at home he could or maybe he does well for himself. I'd hate to break it to you but not all black people are drug dealers and criminals and to suggest that it is so hard to believe that a black person can own a home in Salosbury is terrible. SHAME ON YOU ALL. This is 2012 not 1945. I hoe that he rests in peace and that the other injured man recovers.

Mari, actually you are absolutely right, one should not jump to certain conclusions without knowing all the facts. Unfortunately when things like this happen in your town or close to it, one wonders if it is a random act or if there is more to the story than what has been reported. We all care about our towns and obviously to not want to see violence nearby. But you are correct, we should not jump to any conclusions before all the facts have been understood. Michael, any updates from this story would be appreciated. Thank you.

I agree 100 percent. What got me was the rental comment. There are many young kids in this area that drive nice cars. Look at the kids that were in that unfortunate accident. He drove a BMW. That was a horrific accident as well and involved nice cars and that young man was not doing anything illegal on the side. He was just racing. Maybe this was just an unfortunate thing. Perhaps he got in a fight with someone and they shot him. I hope the young man who was injured is OK and I am continuing to pray for the young man who died. It is terrible.

Michael are there any updates on the condition of the other young man who was injured?
