Queens Man Busted for Drugs, Gun Possession During Traffic Stop

The motorist was stopped at a routine check on the Meadowbrook Parkway at Hempstead Turnpike.

State Police arrested a Queens man Sunday for drug and gun possession after he was pulled over during a routine traffic stop on the Meadowbrook Parkway at Hempstead Turnpike.

According to cops, while interviewing Tamel Haynes, 19, they detected an odor of marijuana emanating from Haynes' BMW. After searching the vehicle, police found a small amount of marijuana and a loaded handgun.

Haynes has been charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession and unlawful possession of marijuana. Haynes was held for arraignment in Nassau County First District Court.
