Police: Woman Lied About East Meadow Mugging

Police were told that someone snatched the woman's pocket book, but cops later determined that to be false.

A woman allegedly lied to cops about being mugged Friday in East Meadow, police told Patch.

“She said she was in the street, and that somebody came along and snatched her pocket book,” police said.

The woman, who’s identity was not disclosed, told law enforcement that the incident happened at Front Street and Gates Avenue in East Meadow. She allegedly said that, while in the street, someone came along and snatched her pocket book at approximately 11 a.m. Friday. Police later deemed that information to be a fabrication.

“As of right now, the woman has not been charged,” police added. “But the investigation is ongoing.”

Please follow up on this story. I am very curious of her motivation and how the police determined she was lying.

Sounds like a possible case of insurance fraud, drug deal gone bad and robbed.. The police do not have to tell the public why she did it. It can be part of a much larger scheme, or just plain old stupid. Either way, no matter what the reason was, she will and should certainly be charged with filing a false report etc...

i think it may be a pill fraud, some doctors still give you new prescriptions if you bring them a poilce report showing they were stolen, so i think that is a very plausable cenario or it could be money who knows i tend to think if someone will make a lie up that bad it must be drugs , and saying your prescription was stolen is a common practice and also why more and more doctors will not even give you more pills if you have a police report or not,
