Police: Westbury Man Arrested for Falsely Reporting Bomb at NUMC

The man also allegedly called in a bomb threat at a 7-Eleven in Bethpage.

A Westbury man was arrested Monday after he allegedly falsely reported a bomb threat at the , police said.

According to police, Marc Gatchalian, of Westbury, was at the 7-Eleven located at 4220 Hempstead Turnpike in Bethpage, when he called 9-1-1 and reported that he had placed a bomb at the location. He also continued to state that he placed an additional bomb at the Nassau University Medical Center.

Officers responded to the hospital and performed an extensive search that resulted in no explosives being found, police said.

Police officers went to the 7-Eleven, where they located Gatchalian and placed him under arrest. No explosives were found at the store, police said.

There were no injuries reported.

Gatchalian is being charged with two counts of second-degree falsely reporting an incident and third-degree menacing.
