Police: Inmate at Nassau Jail Found with Drugs in Cell

Drugs were found during a search of the defendant's cell.

An inmate at the Nassau County Correctional Facility was allegedly found in possession of Oxycodone pills after a routine search of his cell Wednesday afternoon.

According to detectives, around 1:30 p.m., correction officers were searching the cell of 29-year-old Merrick resident Adam Gibson, who is incarcerated at the correctional facility in East Meadow. During the search, officers recovered two Oxycodone pills.

Gibson was transported to Nassau County Police Department Headquarters in Mineola for processing.

Gibson was charged with promoting prison contraband in the first degree. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.

Either: a) it was missed on the initial search when arrested.... or b) a kind visitor brought it in. or c) the cell was not previously searched properly....

Yes...we all see how effective our jail system is as far as rehabilatation!! We just teach them how to become better criminals!!! Some people really do need rehab and not jail..its a revolving door at tax payer expense..help these kids when they are teens and then maybe theyll have a chance to lead productive lives at 29? Just a thought!?! And is it really a surprise they found drugs in a jail?? Im sure its a boomin business for some veteran inmates..and even employees as we have seen in some instances!
