Police: East Meadow Man Assaults Victim With Baseball Bat at Bar

According to Nassau Police, Joe Martins hit a male victim with the bat after an argument at Kiely's Bar in East Meadow.

An East Meadow man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly assaulted another man with a baseball bat at .

According to detectives, Joe Martins, 30, had an argument with another male, 33, while inside the Newbridge Road bar.

Martins left the bar and allegedly returned a short time later armed with a baseball bat. Police stated that he confronted the victim outside the building, striking him multiple times causing injuries to his left arm and cheek.

The victim was treated and released from a local hospital. Martins fled the scene, but was located a short time later and placed under arrest.

Martins is charged with Assault 2nd degree and will be arraigned on Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
