UPDATE: North Jerusalem Road Reopened After Early Morning Crash

While one of the vehicles flipped, police said that both drivers escaped serious injury.

Two people escaped harm after being involved in a crash near the intersection of North Jerusalem Road and East Meadow Avenue around 7 a.m. Thursday.

According to First Precinct officers at the scene, a Mercedes and a Lexus SUV collided, which caused the Lexus to flip. Drivers of both vehicles were transported to Nassau University Medical Center for observation, but their injuries don’t appear to be major, police said.

The cause of the crash is unknown.

Traffic was blocked on North Jerusalem Road between Newbridge Road and East Meadow Avenue while the vehicles were towed away and cleanup ensued, but the road has since been reopened.

I work on that corner, there are a lot of accidents at this intersection, everyone is trying to beat the red light over there, and NO ONE obeys the "no turn on red sign". It's a joke. Be careful.

What is wrong with this story?

The corners of North Jerusalem rd and Bellmore rd and oakfeild is so much worse then East Meadow ave and North Jersalem rd. weekly accidents even though they put a turning light up.Here you have 5 corners and for some dumb reason the thought 1 turning light would be enough. From Newbridge rd to Bellmore rd is like a race track, everyone trying to make the light.
