For the second time in one week, a man lying in the street was hit by a vehicle.
According to detectives, a 27-year-old male was operating a 2008 Infiniti westbound on Center Street in New Cassel when he struck a 20-year-old male lying in the roadway.
The incident occurred near Grant Street on Friday night.
The victim was removed to a local hospital where he was admitted and is listed in serious condition.
It is undetermined as to why he was in the roadway. The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks.
Detectives report no apparent criminality at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
On March 2, a 23-year-old female driver was operating a 2000 Honda in Uniondale when she struck a 22-year-old male lying in the roadway.
