Nearby: Man Busted for Assault, Drug Possession

Story written by Michael Ganci

A North Bellmore man was arrested Thursday for assault and drug possession, cops said.

According to detectives, Joseph Muller, 24, was involved in a verbal argument with a 49-year-old male Monday at 12:30 p.m. The argument escalated, and Muller allegedly threw a lawn ornament onto the hood of the victim's 2003 Ford Mustang.

Cops were called, but Muller allegedly fled the scene before they arrived.

He returned to the victim's home at 5:40 p.m., cops said, and punched the victim in the jaw, which caused the victim to fall to the ground. Muller allegedly continued to punch him in the face and fled before police arrived.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

At 12:53 a.m. on Thursday, Muller was located and arrested at his girlfriend's North Bellmore home. Anisha Bagchi, 18, failed to disclose that Muller was in the home, and she was arrested for third-degree hindering prosecution.

Cops said that Muller was in possession of 172 Oxycodone pills that he did not have a prescription for.

Muller is charged with second-degree assault, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
