Nearby: Man Arrested For Burglarizing Supermarket

Roberto Palacios, 42, of Amsterdam was charged with criminal mischief.

An Amsterdam man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly burglarized Torres Supermarket on 973 Front Street in Uniondale, police said.

According to police, officers responded to a burglary in process in the supermarket on Monday around 5:16 a.m. Upon arrival, police discovered the front door had been kicked in and the alarm sounding.

While searching the premises, police found Roberto Palacios, age 42, in one the store's aisles, authorities said. 

He was taken into custody without incident and further investigation determined that Palacios had also damaged an awning on the outside of the building, police said.

Palacios was charged with third-degree burglary and third-degree criminal mischief.
