Nearby: Man Arrested After Stabbing Student in School

Oscar Castaneda was charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

A man was arrested on Wednesday after he stabbed another student at Uniondale High School on Wednesday. 

According to police, Oscar Castaneda, a 20-year-old student at Uniondale High School, approached a 16-year-old male in the lunchroom, produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim in the neck and back, puncturing his lung.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and Castaneda was placed under arrest. There is no known motive for the attack at this time, police said.

Castaneda was charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
