Monday Night Crash Dirties Prospect Avenue

Nobody was injured in the crash, according to a witness to the accident.

A Monday night crash on Prospect Avenue had left the streets near Prospect Avenue covered in dirt.

According to Town of Hempstead Spokesperson Susan Trenkle-Pokalsky, a car crashed into a fire hydrant in front of the building at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

"Our highway department has been down there cleaning it up," Trenkle-Pokalsky said.

One resident, who chose to remain anonymous, said that water spewed onto Prospect Avenue for nearly an hour before it was shut off. The resident also said that the car involved in the accident flipped, but the driver was not injured.

"They were checking him out to see if he was alright," he said. "He wasn't bloody or anything. He seemed to be fine."

It's not known what caused the crash or if any criminality is suspected.
