Missing Marine Located in East Meadow

Sgt. Lorenzo Davis reported missing after leaving work early without an explanation.

A Marine has been located after going missing on Monday morning.

Sgt. Lorenzo Davis, 24, an administration clerk with the First Marine Corps district, was supposed to report to work at 6:30 a.m., and he didn't arrive until 7:30 a.m. Approximately one-hour later, Davis left his post without telling anyone where he was going.

"The Marine showed up late to work," Cpt. Adrian Rankine-Galloway said. "He left without anyone knowing, and we did not know where he was."

Police searched for Davis, and he was located in front of his home at unit 316 at the Mitchell Estates at 11 a.m. After being questioned by police and Marine personnel, he was transported to Nassau University Medical Center for further assessment.

"I cannot confirm or deny that such a patient is being evaluated at NUMC due to patient privacy regulations," said Shelley Lotenberg, director of Public Affairs.

Davis has been serving in the Marine Corps for the last eight years.

Initial reports suggested that Davis was threatening a supervisor due to a drop in rank, but Galloway said those reports are unfounded.

"Officer Davis was not reduced in rank," Galloway said. "And there was no threat whatsoever."

As far as a motive for his actions, Galloway remains unsure.

"I think it's going to be a while before we know why he left the facility," Galloway said. "Things like this take time."
