Maurice Avenue Break-In Rattles Sleeping Resident

Suspect attempted to gain entry into the home via the back door but fled the scene.

An early morning break-in on Maurice Avenue July 23 rattled a neighbor sleeping inside, Nassau County's First Squad reports.

The incident occurred at 7:55 a.m., according to police.

The sleeping resident first heard the front door bell ring before hearing a "loud crash" at the back door, police said. The resident screamed upon hearing the noise and immediately dialed 911 and looked out the window to see an African American male in his twenties fleeing the scene westbound on Maurice Avenue, according to a police report.

The subject is described as wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. Police report the subject didn't make off with any proceeds and no injuries were reported.

The First Squad is currently investigating the incident.
