Man Killed in Carman Avenue Car Crash

One man died and another suffered serious injuries as a result of Thursday morning's accident.

One man was killed and another was seriously injured in a car accident that occurred on Carman Avenue at 2 a.m. on Thursday morning.

According to police, a 1994 black Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Carman Avenue, and the car crossed over the southbound lanes and struck a tree in front of 723 Carman Ave. The driver, identified as NYPD Officer Fred Barraza, 33, of Williston Park, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say Barraza was on his way home from work when the accident occurred.

A second male victim, identified as Jose Valdevenito, 35, of Westbury, suffered serious head trauma as a result of the crash and was transported to , police said. No update on his condition is available at this time.
