Melville Man Busted for East Meadow Grand Larceny

Andrew Napoli surrendered himself to the Crimes Against Property Squad Tuesday morning.

A Melville man was arrested Tuesday for Grand Larceny after he deposited more than $218,000 in checks into a TD Bank account in East Meadow between Oct. 31 and Nov. 23, 2011, police said.

According to the Nassau County Crimes Against Property Squad, Andrew Napoli, 68, deposited the checks that were drawn from a Signature Bank account with insufficient funds. TD Bank automatically applied the funds towards business loans and suffered an additional loss of $31,000 due to administrative fees, police added.

Napoli turned himself in to the Nassau County Crimes Against Property Squad in Westbury and was charged with second-degree Grand Larceny. His arraignment was scheduled on Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.

I have read that one of the objectives for Patch it to keep factual...for that reason...I could not help but comment that this article about Andrew Napoli is not fact based. It may have started out that way but follow up must happen. The case against Mr. Napoli was dismissed. I think that should be a priority of any journalist...follow up.
