Man Busted for Drug Possession on Meadowbrook Parkway

Police found more than one pound of marijuana in the Westbury resident's trunk.

A Westbury man was arrested for drug possession after he was pulled over near the East Meadow/Uniondale boarder on the Meadowbrook Parkway.

According to New York State Police, while heading southbound, Jason Rankine, 25, was seen driving his black Lexus 74 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.

Upon being pulled over, the state trooper "noticed a smell of marijuana emanating from Rankine's vehicle." While searching the vehicle, police found a backpack containing more than one pound of marijuana.

Rankine is charged with first-degree criminal sale of marijuana, second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and various traffic violations. He's scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court on Nov. 14.
