Man Arrested in East Meadow Carjacking Incident

A 72-year-old victim was not injured during the Monday incident, police said.

Nassau County Police have arrested a Bayside man in connection with Monday's carjacking in the Home Depot parking lot on Hempstead Turnpike.

According to police, the victim was sitting in his Dodge Caravan near the Home Depot parking lot when a man opened the passenger door, entered and demanded the victim's wallet.

The victim tried to exit the car and then a struggle ensued, resulting in both men falling to the ground, police said.

The suspect then stole the victim's wallet and car keys and fled the scene in the stolen vehicle eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike, authorities said.

Rickey Emmons, 34, of Bayside was charged with Robbery 2nd degree and will be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
