Man Arrested For Robbing Woman on East Meadow Avenue

Cops say that Brandon Lee Cruz and an unknown female assaulted an 18-year-old woman and then stole her cell phone.

A man was arrested Thursday for the assault of an 18-year-old woman that took place on April 7, police said.

According to detectives, Brandon Lee Cruz, 19, whose place of residence was not disclosed, allegedly attacked the victim while she was walking on East Meadow Avenue in the vicinity of Lincoln Avenue. Police say that Cruz and an unknown female exited a light-colored four-door vehicle and repeatedly punched and kicked the victim and then stole her cell phone.

Cruz was located and arrested following an investigation by the First Squad with the assistance of the Fugitive Squad and the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

Cruz is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery, resisting arrest, violation of probation and violation of conditional discharge. His arraignment is scheduled for April 20 at First District Court in Hempstead.
