Man Arrested After Leaving Car Accident in East Meadow

Eddy Napoleon, 20, allegedly sideswiped another vehicle and sent it into a tree.

A Baldwin man was arrested after he left the scene of an accident on the Wantagh Parkway in East Meadow at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, according to State Police.

According to detectives, Eddy Napoleon, 20, attempted to illegally pass a Chevrolet while driving his Toyota on the unpaved shoulder at Hempstead Turnpike. Napoleon sideswiped the vehicle, which sent the Chevrolet into a tree. The driver of the Chevrolet sustained a knee injury and was transported to the for treatment.

Napoleon fled the scene, although he was later apprehended by troopers in Bellmore.

Napoleon is charged with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, reckless driving and traffic violations. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.
