Rocky Point Lacrosse Coach Arrested on Child Porn Charges

SeanMichael Pagano, the assistant coach for the Rocky Point High School boys lacrosse team, has been arrested on child pornography charges, according to a Newsday report

Pagano, who is also a New York State Police investigator, is accused of downloading several videos of young girls engaged in sexual acts, the report says, citing an FBI complaint against Pagano. 

Couple Pleads Guilty in LIRR 'Skimmer' Scam

A Queens husband and wife pleaded guilty on Thursday to skimming financial information from Long Island Rail Road ticket machines in Sea Cliff, according to the Nassau County District Attorney.

Valer Zaharia, 38, of Kew Gardens, is scheduled to be sentenced on May 12. He pleaded guilty to third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree conspiracy for his involvement in a scam using hidden cameras and bank card “skimmers” at commuter ticket vending machines operated by the MTA, the DA’s office said. The scheme included gathering debit and credit card account numbers and PINs, using the information to steal money from people’s bank accounts and financial institutions. He is expected to be sentenced to two-to-six years in prison.

Suffolk Woman Admits to Stealing from Great Neck Employer

A West Babylon woman pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing more than $316,000 from a Great Neck contracting company where she worked as a bookkeeper.

Onesta Reyes, 49, is scheduled to be sentenced on June 11. She pleaded guilty second-degree grand larceny.

Reyes inflated her salary, created fake employees and reimbursed herself for phony expenses, and used the money to buy clothing, shoes and jewelry at Macy’s and other stores, according to the Nassau County District Attorney’s office.

Police: Store Manager From West Islip Stole $40K From CVS

A West Islip man employed as a store manager at a Freeport CVS was arrested on Tuesday after police say he stole more than $40,000 from the store over the past week. 

According to Nassau police, Scott T. Crafa, 42, failed to make the store's bank deposits between March 26-30. 

DA: No Charges for Officer Who Shot Hofstra Student

The Nassau County District Attorney released a report this week explaining that they will not prosecute a police officer who killed Hofstra student Andrea Rebello and the masked man holding her at gunpoint nearly a year ago.

"In this case, Officer Budimlic reasonably perceived threats of deadly force against himself and others and acted accordingly. Though the results were unquestionably tragic, criminal charges under these circumstances would be inappropriate and legally unsustainable. Accordingly, this criminal investigation is hereby concluded," the report said of the May 17 incident.

Cops: Employee Scammed Bloomie's of $117K

A Freeport man faces charges after Nassau County Police said he defrauded the East Garden City Bloomingdale's.

Detectives said Yorell Moses, 27, of Freeport, completed transactions for merchandise and gift cards for an unknown number of accomplices using stolen credit card information. Moses would also use gift cards to buy merchandise at other branches and return it for credit on his store credit card, cops said.

Moses reportedly bilked more than $117,000 between November and March, detectives said.

DA: Heroin Dealers Indicted

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota announced in a statement the indictments of a Holtsville couple, their alleged New York City heroin supplier and 11 other defendants on drug trafficking, conspiracy and other charges, Wednesday morning in Riverhead. 

Shooting on the Shinnecock Reservation

On Friday morning the New York State Police in Riverside issued a press release about the shooting at the Shinnecock Reservation in Southampton Thursday morning at approximately 6 a.m.

Officers arrived in response to a 911 call. The victim, identified as male and 36 years old, was transported by private vehicle to Southampton hospital.
