High Winds Leave Nearly 1,300 in East Meadow Without Power
More than 34,000 remain in the dark across Long Island.
High winds battered Long Island overnight into Thursday morning, leaving 1,292 East Meadow homes and businesses in the dark.
According to the Long Island Power Authority's outage map, 1,200 of East Meadow's 13,000 customers are without power. Outages continued to climb Thursday morning as 34,420 customers across Long Island are also reportedly without electricity.

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning last night for Long Island. The warning carried over to early Thursday morning.
High surf advisory, wind advisory and a hazardous weather outlook are forecast by NWS today for the East Meadow area.

From NWS:
Showers likely, mainly before 9 a.m. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 40 by 5pm. Windy, with a west wind 23 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
