Fire Damages Three East Meadow Businesses

The blaze started at Spice & Curry Halal Meat at 2238 Hempstead Turnpike.

A fire damaged three businesses on Hempstead Turnpike on Tuesday evening.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries, fire officials said.

The fire started at Spice & Curry Halal Meat at 2238 Hempstead Tpke. at approximately 10:30 p.m. and spread to the adjacent businesses, Lewis Wine & Spirit and We Buy Gold at 2240 Hempstead Turnpike.

"The fire is still under investigation," John Priest, chief of the East Meadow Fire Department said.

Fire departments from Bellmore, North Bellmore, Levittown, Wantagh and North Merrick also responded to the scene.

WHile I do disagree with PAUL on some issues.. I agree with him on that statement, the Gold place really wont be missed by a majority of people in this town...

Well then , i guess you all will be happy if they do not rebuild then the patch can do another indept story on vacant stores in east meadoww

I used to sell all my gold there , but now I go to empire up the block , at least they have Heat and Electric

Both are pawn shops for the seedy unsavory characters that need bail for jail..... I did see thay were operating by candle light and should probably be closed down due to no electric or heat... Not to mention possibly no alarm but not sure....
