Fire Damages Three East Meadow Businesses

The blaze started at Spice & Curry Halal Meat at 2238 Hempstead Turnpike.

A fire damaged three businesses on Hempstead Turnpike on Tuesday evening.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries, fire officials said.

The fire started at Spice & Curry Halal Meat at 2238 Hempstead Tpke. at approximately 10:30 p.m. and spread to the adjacent businesses, Lewis Wine & Spirit and We Buy Gold at 2240 Hempstead Turnpike.

"The fire is still under investigation," John Priest, chief of the East Meadow Fire Department said.

Fire departments from Bellmore, North Bellmore, Levittown, Wantagh and North Merrick also responded to the scene.
