EM Fire Commissioner Election Today

Longtime East Meadow resident and firefighter Cary Welt is running unopposed for the position, which he has held for the past 30 years.

The East Meadow Fire District Fire Commissioner Election is Tuesday.

Cary Welt is running unopposed for the position, which he has held for 30 years. He will serve another five-year term.

The long time East Meadow resident and firefighter was first elected in December 1980, was re-elected in December 1988 and has continuously held the position since January 1989.

Voting will be held between 1 and 9 p.m. Residents north of Hempstead Turnpike can vote at Fire Station #3 on Newbridge Road and Salisbury Park Drive. Residents south of Hempstead Turnpike can vote at Fire Headquarters, 197 East Meadow Avenue, adjacent to the East Meadow Public Library.

The East Meadow Fire District covers East Meadow as well as portions of Levittown and Westbury and spans over 7.5 square miles.
