East Meadow Man Hurt in Hit-and-Run; Driver Still At-Large

Three people, including an East Meadow man, were seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Melville early Friday, authorities said. 

Suffolk police said a tractor trailer was traveling west on the Long Island Expressway North Service Road when the truck struck a 2002 black Saturn, driven by Andrew Shikora. Shikora was driving north on Walt Whitman Road at about 2:25 a.m. The tractor trailer, with possible front end damage, fled the scene.

Shikora, 24, of East Meadow, Julia Moore, 21, and another female passenger, both of Florida, were transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where they are being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. 

All calls will be kept confidential.
