East Meadow Man Arrested for Drug Possession

The arrest was made on Tuesday night on Front Street.

An East Meadow man was arrested for drug possession after nearly causing a collision with a police officer's vehicle Tuesday night, police said.

According to police, an officer was traveling on Front Street when Elisha Gabe, 35, turned his jeep directly in front of the cop car, which nearly caused a collision.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, and police say that approximately two grams of marijuana was recovered.

Gabe was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and various traffic violations. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Jan. 10.
