East Meadow FD to Host Disaster Drive For Sandy Victims

The event will take place on Sunday at the department's headquarters.

The East Meadow Fire Department will host a disaster drive for the victims of Hurricane Sandy on Sunday.

"We have received dozens of phone calls of residents asking where they can drop off supplies," Fire Commissioner Scott Farber said. "With the gas shortage and people not being able to get around, we wanted somewhere local where people can drop off items to get them distributed to those in need quicker."

Attendees are asked to bring items of necessity that include: bottled water, nonperishable food, clothing, jackets, toiletries, flashlights, batteries, diapers, bottles and baby formula.

The event will start at 9 a.m. at the fire headquarters at 197 East Meadow Ave. and continue throughout the day.
