The occupants of a North Bellmore home were able to escape harm after their home went up in flames Tuesday night.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, the North Bellmore Fire Department received multiple calls for a house fire on Monroe Avenue, just east of Bellmore Avenue.

North Bellmore Fire Department Assistant Chief Marschall was first to arrive on scene and advised that he had a well involved house fire and all occupants were out of the home.

Multiple hand lines were immediately put in to operation but the fast advancing fire forced firefighters out of the structure. Exterior operations were started and two tower ladders were placed into operation to contain the fire.

Units from Bellmore, Uniondale and East Meadow were called to the scene to aid in extinguishing the fire. The blaze was brought under control in about an hour and the Nassau County Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.
