UPDATE: Arrest Took Place Across From Crystalbrook Location

The business is located near the intersection of Harton Avenue and Adelaide Court in East Meadow.

Updated: June 19 9:23 a.m.

Hempstead Town officials have confirmed that the below incident took place at 514a East Meadow Avenue, which is across the street from the former Crystalbrook location.

The arrest allegedly happened on May 15.

Original Story

A letter was mailed to East Meadow residents regarding arrests made at an East Meadow Avenue business.

According to the document, which was dated June 7 and signed by Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes, town officials learned of “illegal activity” being conducted in the storefront. Those details were forwarded to the Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) Narcotics/Vice Squad.

One person was arrested for prostitution and for practicing unlicensed massages, according to the document. A second individual was also arrested for practicing unlicensed massages. Multiple summonses were also issued against the landlord of the business, which is located on East Meadow Avenue near the intersections of Harton Avenue and Adelaide Court, by the TOH Building Department.

The names of the business and those arrested were not specified in the report.

Why is it necessary for Murray and Hudes to send a letter to residents every time they close a massage parlor? Residents can read about it in the newspaper, or on Patch. This event should be a normal police activity, and these two self-serving politicians do not need to give themselves pats on the back. The police did their job. How much did this unnecessary mailing cost the taxpayers of TOH?

I agree with Robert 100%.

I also agree with Robert! What can we do to tell Murray and Hudes to stop this practice, and how can we can an accounting to find out the cost to taxpayers?

Agree with Robert!!!

Hey Ida, call town hall and tell them to stop sending the stuff out. That might work.

I had it out with Hudes about this issue with Sonic. Do they need to have their photo on it as well? Self-serving politicians with an unlimited campaign budget. Truth is that the PDCN Vice/Narco Squad did the lions share of the work and the Building Department rode the Detectives coat-tails in on the case. Nice work by the 1st squad and Vice/Narco! Bad (and shameless) self promotion by the politicians of the People's Republic of Hempstead.

They take credit for every positive thing that happens, whether they were involved or not. Their objective is name recognition, so that, come the election, the uninformed at least have heard the name, and will usually cast a vote in their direction. That has been the formula for years in TOH. They closed a massage parlor in Wantagh two years ago, and right on schedule, the Murray/Hudes letter appeared in my mailbox. New Streetlights were installed in my development some years ago, and there was Hudes babbling about how great TOH government was, for routine streetlight replacement! Can you imagine Bloomberg doing this for every little issue?

This is just news for a reporter, not for a political figure to flaunt. Let the news report it.....

I'm glad they shut down this "business", no thanks to Hudes and Murray but why did it take over 2 years to make an arrest? From day 1 this was a shady operation.

I'm confused - why does it say 540a, which was housed by the Crystalbrook? The former Crystalbrook (now the new strip) was located at 527 EM Ave.

Jenn, We just made the fix. 514a was the address. Confusion because it sounded alike I guess. Mike

I would like to clarify that the address mentioned above is NOT located directly across from the old crystal brook it is further down the street across from the sanitary supply company.
