Dina Lohan Arrested for DWI on Northern State

Police said her alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Dina Lohan, a Merrick resident and mother of Lindsay Lohan, was arrested Thursday after police said she was driving drunk while speeding on the Northern State Parkway.

According to New York State Police, at about 11 p.m., officers observed a white BMW heading westbound on the Northern State Parkway at 77 miles per hour. Lohan, 50, was pulled over just west of Rt. 135 in Syosset, where she was found to be intoxicated, cops said.

She was arrested and charged with DWI and aggravated DWI after a breath test revealed her BAC to be .20, more than twice the legal limit.

After being taken in by police for processing, Lohan alleged that she was injured during the arrest. Emergency personnel were called, but when they arrived, Lohan did not have any injuries and she allegedly recanted her claim.

She was issued traffic tickets for the two DWI offenses and speeding. She was later released to a sober third party, police said, and she's due to appear at First District Court on Sept. 24 at 9 a.m.

This is a breaking news story, and Patch will provide more information as it's made available.

So this is breaking news? The Patch is becoming more and more irrelevant by the day.
Aaron September 13, 2013 at 01:42 PM
Came here to say the exact same thing Frank. Amazing they can't cover breaking news actually relevant but do this stuff. Or entire news articles asking us our take on stupid questions. I used to check all the time, this was my one time for the day, soon to be weekly.
Aaron September 13, 2013 at 01:43 PM
Oh, sorry, and 'blogs' that have an agenda/free advertising.
Rich September 13, 2013 at 02:56 PM
Really??? Who cares. What a waste this story..... Two minutes of my life I can never get back from typing this post.
June Denny September 13, 2013 at 06:28 PM
I agree...a news story would be a week without a Lohan being arrested!!! I agree that the Patch should stick with stories that are relevant to the East Meadow community. Isn't that the purpose of the Patch, to be relevant to the community it serves?

Thanks for the concern everyone. It's noted. But we made the editorial decision to share this story across various Patch sites. Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend! Mike
Aaron September 15, 2013 at 09:56 PM
It's a poor editorial decision that clearly this audience disagrees with. Patch is for local news. This is just trying to emulate the NY Post.

do all of you have a great cheese to go along with your "whining"?
Rich September 17, 2013 at 03:13 PM
Wow Lillian what are you five years old? Go read the national enquirer if you want to read about this disaster of a family. This story had nothing to do with East Meadow and is a waste of space on patch.
lillian September 19, 2013 at 07:55 PM
Wow Rich glad i was able to give you something else to "whine" about. In case you haven't noticed The Patch is a news media, and wether you or Aaron like it, it is something others would like to read. You and few others might like to be respectful of that. I have yet to read anywhere on the patch that articles must be approved by you or anyone else, if you think you can be a better editor then go for it! Let me ask you could you not tell by the headline what the story was about? and if you could why did you read it?
Rich September 19, 2013 at 09:22 PM
Lillian I can make any comment I want... On any article I want and if you think I'm whining I could care less. If I think something is crap on here I will express my opinion. And if my opinion annoys people all the better. If you don't like my comments oh well.
Aaron September 19, 2013 at 09:36 PM
Actually Lillian go read about us in the Patch site (bottom of site). In case you can't find that: "Patch is an innovative way to find out about, and participate in, what's going on near you." ------ This fits none of that ... the drunken driven does not live in EM, the arrest was not in EM. If Patch wants to be a tabloid let them be that, but they'll continue to lose readers. And as this is a community message board we can post whatever we want. You are the one whining, Rich and I are speaking truth and fact. Just look how our comments are recommended and no one cares to back yours up. Good night.
Michael Ganci (Editor) September 19, 2013 at 09:54 PM
Please calm down people. Let's move on. Thank you. MG
Rich September 19, 2013 at 10:04 PM
No one needs to calm down Mike.... We are expressing our opinion on a crappy tabloid article. You expressed your opinion about posting it and obviously you are one of the editors but I think your readers have every right to disagree with you or anyone else who posts something on here. We do have freedom of speech... Correct?
Aaron September 19, 2013 at 10:15 PM
Exactly Rich. Mike just going off what this site is based on, reading the about us before and now the TOS .. where Patch encourages you to share you view while remaining civil. I agree we should remain civil but when a prior commenter accuses of whining, one must defend thyself and as such her comment should have been moderated immediately to meet your own site's TOS as Nassau Editor.
lillian September 22, 2013 at 12:48 PM
you do care , other wise you wouldn't keep commenting. I guess there is no other life events happening, according to you anything outside of East Meadow does not exist. Aaron you posted ""Patch is an innovative way to find out about, and participate in, what's going on near you" the operative word being NEAR. LOL as far as the reccomends go ....nice you 2 have each other ......lolol
Rich September 22, 2013 at 06:11 PM
Well, lets analyze your last posting. You mean absolutely nothing to me... I am going to keep posting if you do to hopefully get on your nerves and you know why? Because you started with me by calling me a whiner. I never insulted you but you started. It's easy to insult people while sitting behind a keyboard isn't it Lillian?Well, that is your opinion and I could care less whether you like or hate me and/or my postings because again you mean nothing to me. Now, "Life events happening"... I really hope for your sake that you do not rely on patch for your main news source. That would be only slightly better than relying on Msnbc. Patch is supposed to be local community news. This piece of garbage and her entire train wreck of a family have nothing to do with East Meadow and I feel that it didn't belong here. Some agree and some disagree. But you were the only one to insult anyone. I guess you think that you are superior to everyone considering that you think I care what you think of me. Again, I will comment on anything I want to you and if it annoys you the better. By the way, Aaron isn't the only one who agrees with me. I see you finally got a recommendation. I guess you figured out that you can hit on your own and recommend yourself.
