Crimes Nearby: Two Charged for East Meadow Attempted Robbery, Merrick Car Break-Ins

Recent criminal activity reported in southeast Nassau County communities.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Bellmore

  • Sometime between 10:18 p.m. on Oct. 20 and 2:20 p.m. on Oct. 1, a home on Jason Drive was broken into and jewelry, as well as an unknown amount of money, was stolen.

East Meadow

  • Two men were arrested for an attempted robbery that occurred at McVey Elementary School on Oct. 6. One of the suspects allegedly displayed a badge and identified himself as a Nassau County Police Officer as he demanded the victim to empty his pockets.
  • On Oct. 24, it was reported to police that a suspicious maroon van was seen driving around East Meadow. Residents said that the driver, who was seen in the area of McVey Elementary School, was wearing a ski mask and the vehicle's back windows were covered.

Levittown

  • Police reported that two cars were stolen in Levittown recently. On Oct. 15, a car was stolen on Division Avenue and on Oct. 21, a car was reported stolen on Jester Lane.  
  • On Oct. 17, damage to a car was reported on Farmedge Road in Levittown. 
  • On Oct. 20, cash was stolen from Segesta Pizza on Wantagh Avenue in Levittown. 
  • On Oct. 17, cash was reported stolen from a home on Griddle Lane. 
  • On Oct. 15, three reels of copper piping was reported stolen from a construction site in Levittown.

  • The Merrick School District is seeking the community’s help in identifying two men that have causing damage on the grounds of Chatterton SchoolClick here for video footage and see if you can help identify the culprits.
  • On Oct. 17 at 9:40 p.m., an unknown white male, described to be five-foot nine, about 18 years old, stole the tip jar from Dunkin' Donuts on Merrick Road. When a witness attempted to confront him, he kicked them and pushed them back, before fleeing eastbound on Merrick Road in a vehicle.
  • Sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 16, a vehicle parked on Kenneth Road in Merrick was broken into. Electronics and other miscellaneous items were stolen.
  • Sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 16, a black Acura parked on Cheryl Road in Merrick was broken into, and sunglasses were stolen.
  • Sometime between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 17, a Toyota parked on Oliver Way in Merrick was broken into and cash, a GPS and glasses were stolen.
  • Sometime between 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 8:45 a.m. on Oct. 17, a silver Honda parked on Holland Way in Merrick was left unlocked, and a GPS was stolen.
  • Sometime between 7 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 17, a 2011 Honda was broken into on Wynsum Avenue. Police said that the perpetrator rummaged through the car, but nothing was reported stolen.
  • Sometime between 11 p.m. on Oct. 17 and 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 18, an unlocked Nissan parked on Gary Lane was broken into. Credit cards, a wallet and personal papers were taken.
  • Sometime between 9 p.m. on Oct. 17 and 8 a.m. on Oct. 18, a Mercedes, while parked in a driveway on Wynsum Avenue, was broken into. Cash was taken, but no damage to the vehicle was reported.
