Crimes Nearby Part II: Windows Broken and Pocketbooks Stolen

Crimes reported in Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa and Farmingdale.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.


Wantagh

  • On Aug. 27, an unknown suspect attempted to reveal the catalytic converter from a vehicle parked on Wantagh Avenue.
  • On Aug. 27, between 3-5 p.m., a passenger side window was broken and a pocketbook was stolen while the victim was at Wantagh Park.
  • On Sept. 2, at 10:10 p.m., Alicia Green, 24, of Huntington, was arrested at the intersection of Morris Gate and Sunrise Highway and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and two violations of the vehicle and traffic law.

Seaford

  • On Aug. 27, at 1 p.m., the complainant returned from a bike ride at Cedar Creek Park and discovered a window on her car had been broken and her pocketbook was stolen.

Massapequa

  • A Wheatley Heights man was arrested Thursday for assaulting a former co-worker with a fire extinguisher, Nassau County police said. Click here for more.
  • On Aug. 27, between 1:07 p.m. and 2:45 p.m., a passenger side vehicle was broken on a car, and a pocketbook was stolen while the owner was at Marjorie Post Park.
  • On Aug. 24, between 4-5 p.m., a tablet was stolen from Verizon Wireless on Sunrise Highway.
  • Sometime between 8 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 30, a complainant on Burton Lane East said that credit cards and cash were stolen from his wallet, which he left in his vehicle.
  • Sometime before 8:20 a.m. on Aug. 30, cash was reported missing from an unlocked vehicle that was parked in a driveway on Avenue Louise.
  • Sometime between 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 31 and 9 p.m. on Sept. 1, a pocketbook and cash were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Linwood Place.
  • On Aug. 28, at 10 a.m., an Amityville woman was arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s.
  • On Aug. 31, at 3 p.m., a Copiague woman was also arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s.
  • Lastly, on Aug. 31, at 3 p.m., an Amityville woman was arrested for shoplifting at Macy’s.
  • Sometime between 11 a.m. on Aug. 30 and 5 p.m. on Sept. 1, property was stolen from a backyard on Clocks Road.
  • Sometime between midnight on Aug. 28 and 3:40 p.m. on Sept. 2, copper was stolen from a rear yard on North Nassau Avenue.
  • Sometime between 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 1 and 5:42 p.m. on Aug. 2, bricks were thrown at a vehicle on Park Lane.
  • On Aug. 1, at 8:52 p.m, Joseph Golden, 50, of Massapequa, was arrested at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Hicksville Road and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • On Aug. 28, at 11:36 p.m., Kali Laborne, 22, of Amityville, was arrested at the intersection of County Line Road and Sunrise Highway and charged with two counts of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and three violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • On Sept. 2, at 3:30 a.m., Javier Santiago, 21, of Freeport, was arrested on Sunrise Highway and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and three violations of the vehicle and traffic law.

Farmingdale

  • On Aug. 30, at 2 a.m., a marker was used on a vehicle on Robin Lane in Farmingdale.
  • Sometime between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 27, a vehicle parked at Heisser Industrial Plaza was scratched.
  • Sometime between 11 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 3, a window was broken on a vehicle parked on Cypress Street.
  • Sometime between 11 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 3, a window was broken on a vehicle parked on Woodward Parkway.
  • Sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 3, cash and an iPad 2 were stolen from a home on Motor Avenue.
  • Sometime before 6:47 p.m. on Sept. 3, someone tried to enter the home via the rear on Washington Street, but they were unsuccessful.
  • On Aug. 30, at 1:25 p.m., a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer was stolen off of Washington Street.
