Crimes Nearby Part II: DWI Arrest, Items Removed From Car

Recent criminal activity reported in southeast Nassau County communities.

The following information is taken directly from the Nassau County Police Department's incident reports. None of the defendants have been convicted of a crime.

Levittown

  • On April 23, cash, an iPod, and a Tori Burch wallet was stolen from a car at the Hunter Business School off of Hempstead Turnpike.
  • On April 24 and 25, police reported a number of thefts at LA Fitness off of Hempstead Turnpike. A credit card, cash and a pocketbook was stolen from a car, a wallet, credit card and cash was stolen from four different lockers and a wallet with cash was stolen from a separate locker.
  • On April 25, glass was broken on a car outside Tutor Time.
  • Two women were arrested on May 1 inside an unnamed storefront at 172 Center Lane and charged with performed unlicensed massages on undercover detectives and then offering to perform a sexual act for an additional amount of money. For more details, click here.   
Merrick  
  • Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on April 22 and 9:30 a.m. on April 23, unknown suspects shattered the rear window of a vehicle parked on Judith Drive. No loss was reported.
  • A Merrick woman was arrested on April 27 after she was allegedly driving drunk on the Meadowbrook Parkway with her kids in the vehicle. For more details click here.
  • One person was transported to a nearby hospital on April 27 after a fight broke out between a number of youths near the intersection of Merrick Avenue and Sunrise Highway. For more on this, click here.
