Crime Report: Woman Recants Assault Story, Serial Killer's Home Sells

Crimes reported by the first and third districts, as well as New York State Police.

After originally telling police that she was assaulted with a glass bottle and then robbed Wednesday night has recanted her story, according to detectives. The woman told police that the incident happened as she went to get out of her car when she was Parked in the parking lot. Police are still investigating.

  • On Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., a man stole several items from in East Meadow. Melvin Rice of Hempstead was arrested in connection to the incident, according to police.
