Crime Report: Volunteer's Jeep Stolen, Inmate Killed, Bank Robbed

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Nassau County Police are investigating a burglary which occurred Wednesday at 10:07 a.m. in East Meadow. According to police, the suspect entered Dr. John Zaso's office and stole various items, including the keys to his keep. Zaso is also a volunteer, so his vehicle is equipped with MD plates and a red light. For the full story, click

  • Nassau County Police are investigating a robbery at that took just before 6:30 p.m. Monday. According to detectives, a male subject entered the bank and handed a demand note to the teller.   • Sal Lauria Jr., 36, of East Meadow was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving while using a mobile phone at Long Beach Boulevard and East Pine Street in Long Beach on Jan. 5.
