Crime Report: Two Arrested on Attempted Robbery, Suspicious Van Reported in East Meadow

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department; it does not indicate a conviction.

  • Two men were arrested for an attempted robbery that occurred at McVey Elementary School on Oct. 6. One of the suspects allegedly displayed a badge and identified himself as a Nassau County Police Officer as he demanded the victim to empty his pockets.
  • On Oct. 24, it was reported to police that a suspicious maroon van was seen driving around East Meadow. Residents said that the driver, who was seen in the area of McVey Elementary School, was wearing a ski mask and the vehicle's back windows were covered.
  • Mark Barber, a former Nassau County Corrections Officer, was sentenced to 5 1/3 years in prison on Oct. 24 for extorting sexual favors from female inmates.
