Crime Report: Providing New Homes for Suffolk Inmates

Crimes reported by Nassau County's first and third precincts, as well as New York State Police.

The in East Meadow has been to rent some of its empty jail cells to house Suffolk County prisoners after the state recently issued the facility a clean bill of health, officials said. The jail official added that approximately 45 inmates from Suffolk have already been housed in the East Meadow jail and other prisoners are expected to arrive shortly.

  • A teenager was injured in a Tuesday in which his car flipped over several times, according to officials. The teen, who has not been identified, was driving on Stewart Avenue  just after 7 p.m. when he struck a tree at the intersection of Stewart Avenue and Carman Avenue in Salisbury. Nassau County Police and the responded to the scene, and the teen was transported to the with minor injuries.
  • On April 15 at approximately 2 p.m., a car was egged while it was parked on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow. An emblem was also removed from the vehicle.
