Crime Report: Bank Robbery, Two Arrested for Fraud

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Police are who robbed TD Bank in East Meadow Sunday morning. According officials, at approximately 11:30 a.m., the suspect entered the bank, located at 1600 Hempstead Tpke., and demanded an unspecified amount of money from a teller. After the teller obliged, the man walked out the front door and into the parking lot, police say. Nobody was injured during the robbery.

  • Marwan Awad and Lana Nasrallah of East Meadow May 18 on charges of Grand Larceny, Welfare Fraud and Offering a False Instrument for Filing, according to Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice. Rice said that between January 2005 and December 2010, Awad, 50, and Nasrallah, 43, stole more than $60,000 in undeserved Medicaid benefits. The couple allegedly failed to report the ownership of two Nassau County homes, personal bank accounts containing more than $230,000, and the ownership of their business
  • On May 27 at 2:20 p.m., Robert Wincklemann of Jericho was arrested for stealing $282 worth of merchandise form in East Meadow.
  • On May 20 between 10 p.m. and midnight, a vehicle parked on Hempstead Turnpike had its vehicles broken and items were taken.
  • Sometime between 11:30 a.m. on May 27 and 6:40 a.m. on May 28, a car parked on Park Avenue had it's windows broken. A handbag was stolen, but it was recovered down the street with various items missing.
  • On May 23, a vehicle parked on Prospect Avenue had its front windshield damaged.
  • Between May 20-22, black graffiti was sprayed along Prospect Avenue, although police say it was not biased or anti-semetic.
