Crime Nearby: Sign Thrown Through Store Window, Attempted Burglary

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Bellmore

  • Complainant discovered a manhole cover removed by unknown suspect(s) in the Ace Hardware parking lot. This was reported on Nov. 1.
  • Sometime on Nov. 4, a complainant discovered passenger side window of his 1989 white Ford was broken and unknown suspect(s) stole a CD player from the dashboard in the PC Richard’s parking lot.
  • On Nov. 5, Donald Price, 54, of Bellmore, was arrested in the Massapequa LIRR parking lot and charged with resisting arrest, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree and harassment in the second degree.
  • On Nov. 5, Claude Stebali, 47, of West Hempstead, was arrested on Merrick Road near Bellmore Avenue, Bellmore and charged with driving while intoxicated and two violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • On Nov. 10, items were removed from a vehicle that was parked on North Jerusalem Avenue.

 

East Meadow

  • On Nov. 8, a vehicle located on Merrick Avenue was ransacked. Nothing was reported missing.
  • On Nov. 10, items were removed from a vehicle on Lenox Avenue.
  • Cash was removed from an unlocked vehicle on Nov. 13. The vehicle was located on Marion Drive.
  • An unknown person took a folding store sign that was on the sidewalk at the East Meadow wireless center and threw it into the store’s front window causing it to shatter. This happened on Nov. 11.

 

Merrick

  • Sometime between Nov. 7 and Nov. 8, cash was removed from an unlocked vehicle that was located on Jerusalem Avenue.
  • A bike was removed from a bike rack at the LIRR station. This happened on Nov. 8.
  • There was an attempted burglary on Columbia Place. No entry was gained and nothing was reported missing.
  • Graffiti was found spray painted on a fence on North Ridge Avenue on Nov. 11.
  • On Nov. 12, a complainant discovered a cell phone and other miscellaneous items missing for a 1995 blue Suburban that was parked on Sunrise Highway.
  • On Nov. 13, Scott Gonyon, 47, of West Islip, was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Hewlett Avenue, Merrick and charged with driving while intoxicated.

 

Seaford

  • On Nov. 2, James Brunhuber, 55, of Seaford, was arrested on Sunrise Highway, Massapequa and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and one violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • A home on Daleview Avenue in Seaford was entered through a rear door. Assorted jewelry was reported stolen.
  • On Nov. 8, Andrew Schneider, 44, of Seaford, was arrested at said location and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, driving while ability impaired and one violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • Sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 9, complainant discovered USC missing from his residence on Franklin Avenue.
  • On Nov. 9, a complainant was contacted by the alarm company that the alarm was triggered at a residence on Maxwell Drive. Complainant returned home and discovered pry marks on a rear window.
  • An unknown suspect(s) damaged complainant’s rear kitchen window on Hilaire Way in Seaford on Nov. 12.
  • On Nov. 13, James Collins, 26, of Seaford, was arrested on Joy Court near Anita Lane, Seaford and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and three violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • A lock was cut at 3990 Jerusalem Avenue on Nov. 13. Nothing was reported removed.
  • On Nov. 13, an unknown suspect(s) stole a piece of copper tubing that connects the outside oil tank to the complainant’s house on Washington Avenue.

 

Wantagh

  • Sometime between Feb. 1 and Oct. 24, a complainant discovered a Nintendo DS, computer, iPods, camera, coins and jewelry missing from her residence on Maple Street.
  • Cigarettes were stolen from the Valero gas station on Wantagh Avenue sometime between Nov. 4 and Nov. 5.
  • On Nov. 5, Andrew Tritschler, 41, of Hempstead, was arrested on Wantagh Avenue near Demott Avenue, Wantagh and charged with criminal impersonation in the second degree and two violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • Sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 10, newly planted mums were taken from Lee Road School.
  • On Nov. 10, an unknown suspect threw an egg at complainant’s front window causing the window to break on Disc Lane.
  • An unknown suspect paid for his food order with a counterfeit $100 bill at Kwong Ming on Nov. 10.
  • On Nov. 12, an unknown suspect(s) stole the tires and rims from complainant’s 2009 black Nissan Maxima on Sycamore Avenue in Wantagh.
