Crime Nearby: East Meadow Home Invasion, Bellmore Jewelry Store Robbed

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Bellmore

  • Between Sept. 29 and Oct. 2, a Merrick man robbed a Bellmore home. The man was told by the babysitter, also of Bellmore, that the house would be empty. See the full story .
  • Graffiti was found on the side of a building on Bellmore Avenue. It is estimated that the graffiti was painted between Oct. 7 and Oct. 10
  • Sometime on Oct. 11, an unknown suspect(s) stole a backpack leaf blower from complainant’s landscape trailer that was parked in his backyard on Newbridge Road.
  • On Oct. 14, an employee at Philip Joseph Jewelers took out several trays of jewelry to show an unknown female suspect. When the complainant was returning one of the trays to the display, he noticed a ring was replaced with a costume jewelry style ring.
  • Two unknown male suspects damaged the complainant’s store banners. The incident happened at 2437 Merrick Road, Bellmore and took place on Oct. 15.
  • On Oct. 16, Dennis Vesik, age 59, of West Babylon, was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Bedford Avenue, Bellmore and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree and four violations of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • Anthony Boccio, age 46, of Bellmore, was arrested at Wal-Mart, 200 Sunrise Mall, Massapequa and charged with petit larceny on Oct. 17.
  • On Oct. 17, Todd Rympalski, age 23, of Bellmore, was arrested at said location and charged with criminal trespassing in the third degree.

 

East Meadow

  • It was discovered that sometime between Oct. 6 and Oct. 12, jewelry was removed from a bedroom dresser from a residence on Stone Avenue. There were no signs of forced entry.
  • Sometime between Oct. 9 and Oct. 10, a GPS was removed from a parked vehicle that was located on Dannet Place.
  • On Oct. 11, four to six male subjects, armed with a handgun, entered a residence through an unlocked front door on Woods Avenue and demanded money from the six male and female victims, ages 18 to 65, inside the home. See the full story .
  • Sometime on Oct. 11, items were removed from an unlocked vehicle that was located on Randall Avenue.

 

Merrick

  • Sometime between Oct. 7 and Oct. 14, a complainant discovered the vehicle title stolen from his 2001 gray Lincoln.
  • On Oct. 10, it was discovered that the front door of a residence on Stevens Avenue was shattered.
  • A complainant conducted a night drop deposit at Citibank on Merrick Road and when she checked her balance the deposit wasn’t reflected. Citibank has no knowledge or record of the deposit.
  • On Oct. 13, Matthew Geffner, age 41, of Merrick, was arrested at King Kullen, 2730 Sunrise Highway, Bellmore and charged with petit larceny.
  • On Oct. 14, a basement window was broken on Oliver Way in Merrick. There were no proceeds taken.
  • Suspects entered a home on Wynsum Avenue through a rear door on Oct. 14. Assorted jewelry was taken from the home.
  • On Oct. 14, three navigation GPSs, underwater video camera, flat screen TV, radio and barbecue were stolen off of boats that were parked in the Ocean Outboard Marina.

 

Seaford

  • On Oct. 11, Heathe Buccino, age 38, of Bayshore, was arrested at the Seventh Precinct in Seaford and charged with leaving the scene of an incident without a report.
  • On Oct. 12, a complainant reported that a mountain bike was stolen from Franklin Avenue by unknown suspect(s).
  • An unknown suspect stole a GPS from a 2004 tan Pontiac that was located on Hilaire Way in Seaford. The incident happened on Oct. 14.
  • On Oct. 15, a complainant reported damage to heavy construction equipment that was located at Cedar Creek Park.
  • An unknown suspect(s) stole a camera from complainant’s 2002 red GMC. The GMC was located on Ralphie Street in Seaford. The incident was reported on Oct. 16.

 

Wantagh

  • Unknown suspect(s) broke the passenger side window of complainant’s 2008 blue Ford Focus that was parked on Wantagh Avenue and stole her pocketbook, USC and a digital camera. The incident happened on Oct. 11
  • On Oct. 14, a woman discovered property missing from different locations within her house. The home is on Riverside Drive.
  • On Oct. 14, Peter Stergakos, age 30, of Massapequa, was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Morris Gate, Wantagh and charged with driving while intoxicated and one violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • On Oct. 15, Daniel Wermelinger, age 28, of Massapequa, was arrested on Sunrise Highway near Grove Street, Wantagh and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and one violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
  • A complainant, a public safety officer, discovered profanities written on the swing set at Duck Pond Drive East and Dell Lane. The profanities were reported on Oct. 16.
  • On Oct. 16, an unknown suspect(s) stole property from complainant’s 2008 gray Toyota that was located on Dragon Lane.
