Crime Blotter: Massive Fraud Scheme, More Car Break-Ins

A look at this week's alleged crimes in East Meadow, reported by the Nassau County Police Department.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • An East Meadow-based orthopedist was one of three people convicted in Manhattan federal court for his participation in a massive fraud scheme in which Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) employees claimed to be disabled upon early retirement so that they could receive federal disability benefits to which they were not entitled.   • Sometime between 12:30 and 6:30 a.m. on July 30, items were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in East Meadow. Police did not release details on where the incident occurred.
  • Before 7 a.m. on Aug. 4, a vehicle’s side window mirror was damaged while parked on Gates Avenue.
