Baldwin Man Arrested For Removing Medical Records From NUMC

William Fink, 45, was charged with third-degree burglary, police said.

William Fink, 45, of Baldwin was arrested after he allegedly removed numerous patient medical records from Nassau University Medical Center on Friday, Nassau County Police said.

According to police, after Fink was discharged from the hospital, he asked a security guard for a phone to call a cab and was directed to phones at the exit of the hospital.

A short time later, the security guard observed the defendant walking through the hospital in possession of a power strip cord and several documents, police said.

Fink could not explain why he had these items, turned them over to security and was instructed to leave the hospital grounds. Shortly after, he was observed near the main entrance of the hospital and police were notified, authorities said.

After an investigation, police found that Fink entered a restricted area of the hospital and removed numerous patient medical records from previous admissions. He was taken into custody without incident.

Fink was charged with third-degree burglary and will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
