A Look Back at Front Street Tractor Trailer Fire
A blast from the past with the East Meadow Fire Department.
In the early morning hours of Jan. 8, 2005, East Meadow volunteers were alerted to a report of a truck fire on Hempstead Turnpike at Front Street.
On arrival a working truck fire was transmitted and Chief Donald Reilly ordered first due engine 611 to connect to a hydrant and lay (2) 1 3/4" attack lines.
Engine Co. 4 soon arrived and assisted Engine 1 while Ladder Company 1 checked for extension and performed overhaul. Rescue Co. 5 established a medical station in the event any injuries were sustained.

The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes under the command of Chief Donald Reilly with the help of his Assistant Chiefs Neil Rohde and John O'Brien.
Damage to the truck's cab was a total loss however firefighters prevented the fire from damaging it's empty cargo trailer. No injuries were reported.
