Sound Off: Where Are the Worst Potholes in East Meadow?

It’s roadwork season, so let’s identify the streets that need repair.

It may have been a mild winter, but the roads around East Meadow still need fixing.

Patch is on a quest to uncover the roadways and intersections with the worst potholes. So sound off in the comments section and sound the alarm. Your car – and that minivan full of kids on the way to little league practice – will thank you.

There were 1,007 potholes reported to the Town of Hempstead Highway Department in early 2011. However, from Jan. 1 through the end of March this year, there have been 336 pothole inquiries.

"Please note that we count inquiries, not potholes -- there may be more than one pothole at a given location," a highway department representative stated.

Potholes should be reported directly to the Highway Department at (516) 489-5000 or e-mailed to pothole@tohmail.org. Residents should provide the exact street address and the nearest cross street.

Potholes on major county roads around East Meadow can be reported to the Nassau County Department of Public Works. To do so, either call (516) 571-6900 or send a specific location to pothole_emergencies@nassaucountyny.gov.

Editor's Note: There has been a correction to this story. The original number of potholes reported for 2011 was incorrect.

Cypress Avenue from Wellington to Hilda is one giant pothole! There is more cold patch than pavement. Time to repave!
