POLL: Buying Pretend Weapons for Kids

Is it inappropriate for kids to be playing with toy guns and knives?

As people go through the stores looking for presents, some might stand out a little more than the rest.

Many places that sell toys offer weapons in toy form, such as guns, knives and swords, which leads to a debate as to whether these "toys" are appropriate for young children.

What do you think? Vote in our poll below, and tell us in the comments!

Absolutely positively not. Toy guns are not toys. PERIOD............... To the few who already said: "They’re not even real and they’re harmless." Do you really belive that or were you being funny?

No, my child has shot real guns before with an adult so don't think that I am anti-gun. I do not allow him to have toy guns. Mainly because I don't ever want him to mistake the real thing as a toy. He's also taught gun safety, one of the most stressed rules is you never point a gun at a person. Allowing him to play with toy guns and point those at people negates everything I've taught him.

My kids love to play pretend war games with one another, so I wouldn’t mind buying some toys that look like weapons for them, as long as they don’t look like replicas.
