It's a debate that now seems to arise every year around this time: Should people use the term "Merry Christmas" or something more generic such as "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings"?
The latter has become popular due to the variety of religious holidays taking place this season, but those who say there is a "War on Christmas" have rallied in recent years, saying people who insist on "Happy Holidays" are being too politically correct.
East Meadow Patch asked readers on Facebook what they thought on the matter and many said that they used more than one term.

"It all depends on who I am saying it to," Jane Randall said. "If I know what the person's religion is, then I wish them that accordingly. If I don't know the person then I generally say 'I hope your holiday is a happy one.'"
"I always try to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and if I'm sure they celebrate, otherwise I use Happy Holidays when I don't know the person's religion," Pauline Christakos said.
Kimberly Schmitt Davis said that she happy to hear any of the greetings during the holiday season.
"It's nice to hear people say something nice, no matter what it is," she said.
