Last Second Putback Gives St. John’s Conference Road Win over Cincinnati

St. John's Beats Cincinnati at the Buzzer, 57-55

After the Cincinnati Bearcats clawed back from a deep hole in the second half, St. John’s was able to escape with a crucial Big East road victory thanks to a Moe Harkless putback as time expired. The putback capped off a 35-30 second half for the Red Storm as they came out on top 57-55.

St. John’s (8-7, 2-2), who trailed by 3 going into halftime, came out firing with a 21-3 run and led by as much as 15 in the second half. Things started to get interesting when Cincinnati (12-4, 2-1) finally started to connect on several 3s – the Bearcats finished 7 of 32 from outside.

Cincinnati’s Jeremiah Davis tied the game at 55 with a three with only 8.9 seconds remaining. On the ensuing Red Storm possession, D’Angelo Harrison drove the baseline and floated up a shot that rolled around the rim and fell out. Fortunately for St. John’s, Harkless was waiting right under the basket and was able to tip it in before the clock hit all zeroes.
