NUMC to Host New Diabetes Educational Program

The event will take place at the medical center on May 22.

Nassau University Medical Center will host a new diabetes educational program this month.

The seminar will teach attendees what the disease is, how to treat diabetes, meal planning, exercise and the importance of managing stress.

Diabetes is the condition in which the body does not properly process food for use as energy, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Diabetes can cause serious health complications including heart disease, blindness, kidney failure, and lower-extremity amputations. It is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States.

The program will take place at Nassau University Medical Center on May 22 at 6 p.m.
